Black and White Bathroom

Posted by on Jun 10, 2016 in Blog

A Black and white bathroom is timeless.  This color palette is so versatile and coordinates with any color.  Black and white tiles can be a permanent fixture in your bathroom, but when you feel like a change, you can repaint your space and add different color towels and accessories.  This is a very good option for those who like the “Change It Up” every now and then, but does not have the time or resources for a major construction project.

Black and white bathrooms look Really good in small spaces.

There are situations that you can not enlarge a space.  You have to work with what you have.  We had a client with this scenario.  Our client that wanted to redo their attic bathroom in their 1930’s bungalow.

To help them save money, their current vanity was in good shape, but the wood tone did not go well with the new color scheme.  Our client painted the vanity, mirror frame and light fixture with a black gloss paint.

We added the black and white tile on the floor, upgraded their bathtub fixtures, and installed wainscoting on their walls.

This space is very small, but with a little help, it now has some character and fits our client’s lifestyle.

Let’s celebrate “The Luck of the Irish” with Green Decor. Welcome the month of March by refreshing your home with green.

Green can be intimidating, but with so many shades it is a beautiful color and very easy to coordinate with your current decor.  Whether you go Bold and really embrace the green or choose a more subtle route and add a few touches here and there – the splash of green will help liven up your space.

Here are some ideas I have found that let you experiment with the Color Green.

CREATE A FOCAL POINT AND ADD A PLANT WITH GREEN VASE

ONE PICTURE AND ONE PILLOW – FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT WANT TO COMMIT TO GREEN

ADD PILLOWS IN DIFFERENT SHADES TO ADD A PUNCH OF COLOR

EMBRACE GREEN AND PAINT AN ACCENT WALL, ADD GREEN ACCESSORIES.

THE MEANING OF THE COLOR GREEN:

Symbolism Green stands for balance, nature, spring, and rebirth. It’s the symbol of prosperity, freshness, and progress.

Positive Associations We associate green with vitality, fresh growth, and wealth.   We generally think of it as a balanced, healthy, and youthful. We use green in design for spaces intended to foster creativity and productivity, and we associate green with progress – think about giving a project the “green light.”

BATHROOM REMODEL IDEAS

Posted by on Nov 5, 2015 in Blog

Growing up we had a half bathroom that my mother would change out the decor or color scheme every 5 years or so.  This was a small room that took minimal investment to make a change.  One time I remember she had wallpaper that looked like you were in a forest and another time she painted the walls a deep red accented with black towels and rugs. I think this room was her way to express her creative side without any input from my dad.

As I look back I realized this is probably why I like to have bold patterns or color in small spaces.  Going bold gives small rooms some interest and since they are small you may be willing to try something new.

Here are a few Bathroom Remodel Ideas for a half bath I have found.

As long as you have water, you can put a bathroom anywhere – love this black and white bathroom.

Wainscoting does not always have to be white – this gray and white is perfect with the gold mirror.

Here are some bathrooms using more color – (hot pink and black – Why Not)

Look at your half bath – or any small room you may have and experiment with color and pattern.  Get out of your comfort zone  and try something new.

London Brick – Ceramic Tile

Posted by on Sep 14, 2015 in Blog

When I see loft spaces in old buildings, I always love how the exterior brick is part of the design.  Your decor can be modern or traditional and the exposed brick always seems to look “just right”.

If you are lucky enough to have one of these industrial loft spaces – Congratulations. But for the rest of us, we can achieve the look.

Rodine has a product line called London Brick.  This is a ceramic tile material that is inspired by early 20th century brick.HD_AMB_2

It comes in 3 sizes – – 6×25, 13×25 and 30.5×60.5 – in a colour range featuring earthy shades: multicolor, sunset, beige, charcoal, fog and the new brown, obtained by mixing black, cream and brown.

This is beautiful line and I can’t wait to use it somewhere in my home.
